tv show american hot rod/why boyd hates foose

Post by customcrewcab »

i was wonder how someone like boyd built all those great cars in the 90's and why he hates chip foose.

here it is in black and white. foose was boyds designer in th 90's when boyd made a name for himself. he left when boyd ran the company into the ground in 98. seems like chip had his skills way before he started working for boyd.

Growing up in Santa Barbara, Foose worked under the watchful eye of his father Sam Foose, himself a master bodyman. At the age of 13, Foose had painted his first car, a Porsche 356. He continued to refine his skills in all aspects of metal shaping and body work. In 1990, his expertise led to a coveted staff design position with famed hotrod builder, Boyd Coddington. There, he was instrumental in creating the acclaimed Boyd look, eventually becoming company president and director of design. Foose reveled in his time there, working with Coddington’s talented and fastidious crew. While there, he is credited with massaging such cars to life as the famed “Speedstarâ€Â

That's interesting. Where did you read this? If all this is true, I guess Boyd felt that Chip should have brought that work to Boyd, to try and keep the old shop going.

It is interesting to see on Boyd's show how much he seems to dislike Chip. I have wonder how much of that was just "added drama" for TV.

i found it no the web when for sam foose info. i didn't like the fact that boyd made it seem like hes the reason chip has talent. sam foose is a famous car builder too. i am sure chip learned alot for his dad. sam may have show boyd a thing or two. i will have to find the magazine i have from the around 93. it said sam was a 3 timer winner of the oakland car show which is one the best in the world. i just don't really care for boyd that much, since i seen him on tv my opion hasn't gotton any better. he makes it seem like he's the guy who start it all. boyds company has built some nice cars but i really think he has little to do with it. he almost went out in 98 and i guess he thinks chip should have stuck around instead of going out and making a name for himself. jeese james used to work for boyd too.

Foose has more talent in his pinky finger that Boyd has in his whole body. Every time Boyd works on his cars he screws something up, say nothing for his crappy designs. I'm not really sure what he provides that shop other than a name that was mostly built on Foose designs. He can't do crap for work, can't design, and certainly can't run a business, is a lousy manager of people. His best asset is he has a bunch of rich friends he's hoodwinked into buying his crap over and over again to keep him afloat (although the Discovery Channel has padded his acct. I'm sure..BTW, why does Discovery pick Boyd and OC Choppers as their builders to highlight? Two of the goofiest designers in the industry).
Did you see the Bud Lite car show? Did you know that car was not some barn rescue like they tried to make you believe. It was actually a museum car they cut the headliner up and took a grinder to the paint to make it look a little ratty for the show :cuss:
He's also been in trouble with the law on some car title scheme, been bankrupt at least once, possibly twice. The guys just sucks in every way in my book.

Yeah Cadzilla is killa :D
But Boyd had very little to do with that either, but ofcourse he gets all the credit.
