re: New to the site
I will go ahead and post a thread on the body and paint area. In fact, I may have some pics when I was doing some of the work. Check back after this weekend and I'll see what I can put together. All in all it was a fun process. I did have some minor rust issues, but it was not the reasoning to remove them. It was the look I was after! I'll post some before and after pics of the drip rail removal on the weekend in the body and paint.

siiiiiick work man! I love the radiused hood and smoothed body line the most. Did you order the roll pan or build it out of the bedside of another truck? Very nice work man! Oh, and the dash is going to be smooth too!

Regarding the question about the roll pan, I bought that from LMC and just welded it up. The tailgate was another story for I picked up a clean sheet of metal that was cut to fit in that middle section. Fit it just right and did the body work.
For the other question about what else is planned? My biggest project that I've been thinking about is a one peice window setup. The main hangup I see is the door hinges are in the way. My first thought was to make the doors go suicide! On the other hand, I saw a post somewhere on the body and paint forum and someone suggested altering the hinge location so it wouldn't interfere. So we will see. I like the suicide aproach myself.
I currently have the truck lowered down by the AIM beams and 2" lowered coils for the front. Dropped shackles for the rear. Bags would be better!

Looks real good. Besure to keep us updated. Howmuch time did those gutters take? Also did you weld youre fender on to the cab? You are going to have a smooth truck. Is it going to be a driver?

one thing good about our trucks is that we have the hinges everyone wants for suicide doors! least the budget guys. So, that saves you a good deal if you don't mind thinking a little bit.

Just wondering what kind of welder your using for all that? I'm guessing mig with solid wire and gas... Right?
I was having problems with the mig (w/flux) i was using on my yvehC blowing hole in the panels. I had it cut down on low, and wire feed low... But still had problems. Only way i could get a successful weld was by pulling a nail or bolt through the hole. Seemed the bolt took the heat, but still didnt make for much of a weld.
Truck looks great by the way! Keep it up... And more pics!

I'm using a mig with gas. It seems like there are situations that the mig does not do what I want it to at times. Thats where knowing your setting comes into play and what have you. It seems like with sheet metal I have been setting it at a pretty low setting. Thankfully this Ford Sheet metal is fairly thick compared to some other cars I've done welding on.

I just posted the work I did on the hood this weekend. I did the welding Saturday and it took most of Sunday to strip the paint and do the bodywork. The hood took a lot time to get right. Once the welding was finished, I got some strange warping! I think its ready for a good thick coat of primer. I just sprayed a thin coat so it doesn't rust. I will post something next weekend.
