Glad to be any kind of inspiration around here. Keith certainly has inspired me!
I would love to do my truck to his detail but limited funds and resources dictate otherwise.
Always do the best you can with what you got. Anythings better than doing nothing.
And the "good ideas" came from right here in these forums. So steal away.
72hiboy4x4,
Have you seen what Rust Bullet did for the inside and outside of my door pillars? And the inside of my cab corners?

I brushed it on the drip rail too.
I like that stuff. Sprays on with a regular paint gun right out of the can and cleans up with Acetone.
Im gonna get more and spray the inside of my fenders, doors and hood before I put em back on.

I was looking at those links earlier. I think I will be doing that with mine, also.
But I will have to brush mine on, as I don't have a spray gun right now.
I'm planning on doing the entire floor and underside, door janbs, ect. with Rust Bullet, then going over that with some kind of undercoating.
There will be nothing in there but rubber floormats, so I need to keep the heat away from the floor.
How much have you used, or anticipate using on the whole cab?

In life many men take the path of righteousness, some take the path many others follow (G.M. owners, for example), some take a more arduous path, some a simpler path. I, sir, took the PSYCO-PATH!!

If you brush it on use a good brush. One at least good enough to not lose its bristles in the coating.
The second coat goes a lot farther and faster than the first one and you can really see it cover after that.
If you topcoat it with Hurculiner, paint, or anything of the sort, make sure and do it within the 72 hour drying time frame or you will have to rough it up with sand paper.
That stuff ain't easy to sand. It dries really really hard.
If you need a sprayer I have one of those Wagner electric sprayer jobbies I could let you have for the cost of shipping. Should work just fine for what your doing with it.
I first bought the six pack deal that they have advertised on the website.
You cant really keep that stuff around once you open it so the six small cans worked out fine for me. I only opened what I needed, when I needed it.
One whole can went for the drip rail area.
Each door pillar got one can and the inside of the roof got another one.
The rest was split up between the inner rear cab corners, inner area of the cab mounts, pinch weld section of the windshield opening, and the entire door jam area where the seam is.

Can you check the link to the photos>? I was not able to open them.
I am preparing to do the same thing, my donor cab is almost ready, and I want to prepare myself for what is the minimum I have to do carry out the swap. I was kind of hoping I can leave the inner fenders in place.

First : yeah Sharkdance, check the link, or just repost them. I'd like to see the progress too. You're doing an awesome job with your build, keep it up.pdr1966 wrote:Can you check the link to the photos>? I was not able to open them.

2nd: to pdr1966, about the inner fenders. Do you have your bed on? If so, it would probably be easier to swap it if you take all fenders (inner/outer) off. Since the back of them have to be unhooked, it would be alot easier to just remove the handful of bolts from the front too.

Yes the bed is on.
I will likely change the outer fenders as well, I am still looking for a decent pair to use. Mine; One has a dent & rust in the lower corner, the other has rust in the lower corner only.
I have not looked, or loosened bolts yet as it has been cold and crappy out here.
Hoping to do the swap in about two weeks, I am trying to get my head around all the 'to do items' and estimate how long it is going to take
Thanks
Pete
