I guess it's time to show my tail

Post by Randle »

Tailgate that is. I needed a tailgate and my 71 tailgate was petty much shot, and I wanted to smooth it out some anyway, so I decided to reskin a 73 tailgate I had. At this point I still have a little tweaking to do, but you as you can see I am getting close. Both body lines had to be changed and the 73 tailgate was a 1/4" thicker at the top body line. As you can see I still haven't got my rollpan welded on either.

Here is the front, I need to get a picture of the side of the cab. I have shaved the vertical part of the gutter welded the seam above the back glass and getting ready to shave the door handles.

White with tinted windows would look killer.

What kind of bumper is that? I like the way it rolls back under the grill.

It's not actually a bumper, I cut the top rail off a extra bed I had and turned it upside down and welded it to the stock lower valance. The rollpan on the back is made from the other bed rail.

Here is a picture of the end of the valence when it was tacked up, and when I got it in primer.
