more underhood progress
well, my two year old was sick this morning so i voluneered to take the day off work to stay home with him since my wife has always had this honor.
in between diaper changes, meals, changing out the spongebob dvds, etc. i managed to sneak out to the driveway and get some underhood painting done. none of this stuff is perminent, but just trying to make it look a little better than it did. when the po painted the truck he managed to primer most of the under hood stuff and i couldn't live with how it looked. hopefully someday in the near future i can start a real restoration, but this will do for now.
these first two pics are just so you can get an idea of what i am dealing with.
here are the inner fenders and radiator.

Looks a lot better!
You gotta be careful when painting a radiator with regular rattlecan paint though. Regular paint doesn't dissapate heat very well, and completely painting a radiator with it will insulate it and can actually make your truck run hotter, depending on how thick the paint is. There's a special radiator paint that's supposed to be a better choice...it's flat black and just a single light coat is all you should need.

i'm gald you brought that up keith 'cause i wasn't sure if it would matter, but i thought about it when i hit it. i did use regular dupli-color, but i tried to make sure i only made one pass and only shot it from a topwards angle on the cores. that way when you look at it, it looks painted, but if you looked up from the ground the bottoms of the fins are still uncovered.FORDification wrote:Looks a lot better!

Looks good. Now are you gonna black the firewall or leave it as is? I think blacking it would look good.
