An 8 month break then a mad rush...

Post by 71f100 »

Hi guys,
What a crazy old month it's been...got my house reclad, got married, and got my truck painted at last!!! I'll load a couple of pics on here.

But also, my friend has been keeping rather detailed photo updates of the second half of the project which can be viewed at http://www.flickr.com/photos/richardwit ... 504259575/

Had the interior pretty much done a while back but lost heart when the roof repairs I was doing turned out less than desirable. Finally a donor truck came up with cancer in all the usual spots, except the roof!!! How stoked was I? So a day of drilling spot welds and preparing the "new" roof and it was off with her head, and on with the new one. stuck with the shaved drip rail coz I reckon it cleans the lines up, makes 'er look sleeker. The crazy thing is I started work on her when I only had 3 weeks left to have her ready for my wedding!! and that includes doing the roof. So along with working full time at work, every waking hour was spent out with the truck (nearly didn't have to worry about the wedding thing..lol) but she wanted the truck there as much as I did, she loves the old girl. She's still not finished off, (are they ever) but she was finished enough for the wedding, (and my camping trip the week before the wedding!)
I still have my eyes open for a new bed, had to make do with this one for now. Anyhoo, that's where I'm up to. Am now browsing through what everyone else has been up to. :fr:

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

Thank you very much for the kind words, . I think they both scrubbed up pretty well!!
You're a lucky man. What kind of wheels are those?
The wheel are ROH alloys, 15x7's and Cheviot centre caps. Can't give any more detail than that, as I don't have any more :dk:
Though I do know that the guy i bought them off (via ebay) was a little upset when noone else bid on them and I got all four with centre caps for $122.50 :woohoo: He even tried to talk me out of buying them.....fat chance. I was a little sceptical when I first picked them up, but now they're on the truck I'm stoked.
Now where in the heck did you find a bumper like that?
The bar is for bouncing kangaroos rather than deer down here. It was on the truck the when i got it, thankfully. I have actully been trying to decide whether to go for a nice shiny chrome bumper bar, I like the look of them, but there's just too many roo's around these days. nearly hit three the other day coming back from the parents place (3 seperate incidents). That kinda makes me think I'll stick with the four post that's on it. Plus it's good for intimidating slow drivers!!! .....

Cool, Like the progress from that angle the bed looks allright. Is it rusted on the inside or the left rear?

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

The bed looks alright from the outside, and will hold up for a while, but the floor has has some horrific punishment, before I got it was used to cart parts around to swap meets, had also blown a tyre on the right side, which tore the back of the wheel arch out and the floor etc. Some one has also at some stage in her life, had exhaust stacks running up through the bed floor. The outside of it was FAR from being anything resembling straight. Even after a lot of panel work, she still needed an all over coat of filler to smooth her down. The seem running along the top of the bump is the only place where the bed had any rust. I've cleaned that out, given it the usual treatment then re-sealed it with drip check. It may take years to find a better one, so I'm kinda glad this one worked out for now.. Pretty hard to find a good one down here! If it was 73-79 I could have half a dozen of the darn things, but I love my bump. Wouldn't have it any other way.
