F100 2x4 to 4X4 conversion
I have a 1967 F 100 2 wheel drive which I would like to convert to 4 wheel drive. One option is to swap frames which would give me the option of 3/4ton. Another I think would be to get the front axle, trailing arms, mounts, and front cross member from an F 100 4x4, take off all of the 2 wheel drive stuff off of mine including the massive twin I beam cross member. Of course I would have to go with an unmarried transfer case to keep the C-6 I have and I have no idea on the oil pan. Has anyone done this? Has anyone done any conversion or do they just get a different truck?

re: F100 2x4 to 4X4 conversion
I'm no expert, cause mine was factory 4x4... but in my humble opine, it would be easier to find a 4x4 frame. Of course if you did a frame off restoration, you could go the conversion route (from 2wd frame into a 4wd frame).
Either way, good luck, these (67-72) are awesome trucks.

I'd go with the frame swap too. The 4x4 frames are a lot stiffer compared to the 4x2 according to Ford. Good luck and take some pics!

I agree with the rest getting a frame is the best choice...
but If you insist on keeping that frame the easiest way to convert in my opinion is to get leafspring hangers from a 250 and weld them in
make it a leaf front...
And as with any 4x4 you have to run a rear sump oil pan to clear the diff.
are you running an fe engine?
You can get a divorced 205 out of a highboy along with the mount crossmember and still run your trans.
seems like alot of work when you could just scare up a frame
also I believe that 73-79 frames will work The cab and bed mount holes will line up

re: F100 2x4 to 4X4 conversion
converting my 67' F350 crew cab to 4x4 shortly... I plan to use the same frame, I have a donor 85' crew cab but the frame is longer by 6" so I really dont want to cut and weld it. I am using the leafs and hangers out of my 85' mainly since I have 12" rearched ones for it already... and I have a reverse shackle kit off my 85' Im going to try to get to work on the 67' front. Then just the 460 then can get mounts or kit from L&L and put the C6 in it getting rid of the 4spd.... just starting it probably next month but will be posting tons more then
