Sharkdance's 70 F250 project (condensed)
Just an update of the cab swap.
This is what she looked like when I first got her:
*Mark*
What the pics dont show is the roof rot and rats nest wiring harness. So I got a donor truck with a good cab and wiring harness and removed them to do a quick swap.
Gravity works well so removing the old one was pretty easy.
This is why Im always a victim of the "as long as your at it you may as well" syndrome.
Once the cab was off I just HAD to pull the engine and paint the frame.
When your working by yourself you use every tool you have and every bit of ingenuity you can think of:
After several months of work:
*Mark*
*Mark*
Still had to get the bed done but ran out of time and money:
*Mark*
So this is how she sits right now. Gonna have to drive it like this till I either find a better bed or untill I can finish this one.

I still say it has been a great project to be included here for those of us either in the midst of our own or waiting and wanting to be. Nice addition to what Keith has already provided here also. Thanks for including us, John.

Thanks guys,
dcbullet, Yes I removed the bed by myself. My 11 year old son wanted to help but he couldnt lift the other end. So he watched and eyeballed things while I kinda slid it off. Which turned into a controlled fall. It wasnt pretty. But I did manage to get it off and moved out onto a bench myself.

Very nice, you will be very happy you stripped it completely down in the next few years. Did you do anything with the engine?

Heeeey! That bed looks pretty good. You should definately finish that bed when you get the $$ to buy the paint.
Was replacing the windshield gasket easy? Did you run into alot of sealant on the old one? Are you supposed to put sealant into the new one when installing? jz

Actualy, yes. I did.Galaxie64: Did you do anything with the engine?
It just got a clean up and rattle can paint job because it ran fine with no issues.
Putting it back together though I was able to correct some mistakes made by the previous owner mix matching brackets and pulleys.
I have the spare 360 from the donor truck that will be built into a 410 while I drive on this one for a while.

The hardest part was removing, storing, and re-installing the glass by myself without breaking it. The gaskets (front & back) werent exactly hard to do. I cut the old ones out and used the rope method to reinstall.jzjames, Was replacing the windshield gasket easy? Did you run into alot of sealant on the old one? I did find some gobbs of old sealer mostly in the corners but did not use any on the new seals.
The color is an 05-06 Ford color called Light Tundra Effect. The color code is DV.[/quote]Big D's 69, what color is that?
